a project by jason sinclair
every month, one person gets tattooed free of charge — someone who's been through a moment that changed their life. good or bad. nominated by the people who know them best.
the artist
jason sinclair is the co-owner of shade. studio in yaxley, and a custom black & grey tattoo artist working almost entirely on large, considered pieces — sleeves, backs, legs, the kind of work that takes real time to get right.
the life project is his own — planned, designed and tattooed personally, one story a month, alongside his regular client work.

recent work
a handful of recent pieces — full portfolio and daily updates over on instagram.

the idea
losing someone. surviving something. a diagnosis, a recovery, a second chance, a new beginning. the moments that split a life into before and after.
tattoos have always marked those moments — but the people who deserve them most aren't always the ones who can afford them. so once a month, i'm putting a day aside. one nomination gets chosen, and that person gets a custom piece designed around their story. no cost, no catch.
anyone can be nominated. you can even nominate yourself — no shame in that. every story gets read.

the first piece
the first life project piece is done — filmed and photographed so you can see exactly what this is before you nominate someone. here's the story, and the work.

how it works
no forms, no fine print. one nomination is picked every month, and everyone else stays in the running for the next one.
nominate someonetell us who they are and what they've been through. it doesn't need to be perfectly written — just true.
at the end of each month, one nomination is chosen. everyone else stays in the pot for future months.
a custom black & grey design built around their story — worked out together before the day.
they come in, get tattooed, and leave with something that marks the moment. that's it.
nominations
someone who's been through it. someone starting over. someone who deserves a mark for the moment that changed them. or you — self nominations are welcome. nominations stay private, and nothing is ever shared unless the person chosen is happy for it to be.
anyone over 18 who's been through a life-changing moment — good or bad. recovery, loss, survival, a fresh start. if it changed their life, it counts.
yes. genuinely. some of the most important stories come straight from the person living them.
a custom black & grey piece designed by jason around their story. size and placement worked out together — within a full day session.
nominations stay in the pot. one person is chosen every month, so a story sent today could be chosen months from now.

every story gets read. one chosen a month.
